I'm Tracy Yap, a simple girl from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I've always wanted to have a blog as I enjoy writing but I've always been putting it aside for "tomorrow". Well, a few good years later (more specifically after a trip back to my college neighbourhood), I realised that I HAD to start one before my youth entirely dissipates. So, ta-da, here it is!
This blog is all about my food philosophy--from the way I prepare them to the way I eat them. I’m all about living a healthy lifestyle. I've developed an inclination towards wholesome cooking and eating over the past few years. Now, there’s one thing I have to clear before I go any further and that is this: by wholesome, I do not mean low fat or any of those diet fads out there, noooo way; absolutely not! I don’t believe in such things.
My philosophy is, if you want to be healthy, we have to go back to our roots like how our ancestors used to eat—they ate wholesome, unprocessed, and natural ingredients. Wholesome cooking and eating excites me, and through this blog I hope to convey my excitement in hopes of inspiring more of you to follow suit.
The word “dapur” stands for “kitchen” in the Malay language. Now, I’m no self-proclaim awesome cook—but I sure hope to be one day! To be honest (and this serves as a sort of “disclaimer” for my blog just to manage your expectations as I doubt you’ll become a Michelin-star chef from reading my blog) as I start this blog, I’m as much a newbie in the culinary world as the guy next door who doesn’t know how to boil an egg. Okay, maybe I’m a tad better than he is because I do know how to boil an egg and more. My point is; I’m no culinary expert. This blog will log my culinary journey as I experiment with ingredients and recipes to live a more wholesome lifestyle.
